The wines from this family winery in Torremontalbo are something of a Rioja insider's secret: well priced and wonderfully consistent. Made from Tempranillo with 10% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano, this is a classically elegant, lightly wooded style with savoury sweetness. 2019-24

Ripe plum and lime aromas follow through to a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a tangy finish. A pretty lively young wine. Drink now.

Consultant Georges Pauli thinks that this is the best Amézola Reserva yet and he may well be right. Blended from Tempranillo with 10% Mazueloand 5% Graciano, it's a complex, layered, self-assured wine with a winning combination of fruit sweetness, perfumed oak and graceful tannins. 2020-30
