Drink: 2013 - 2020

The NV Palo Cortado VORS from a centenary Palomino solera in Sanlucar shows a bright, deep amber-brown color and an intense Amontillado nose denoting old age. The aromas are bright, clean and precise, very intense, with notes of iodine, roasted nuts and noble woods. The deep, pungent, medium- to full-bodied palate has the roundness and power of an Oloroso and the subtle, sharp character of Amontillado, ending dry and salty, with great length and persistence. A superb Palo Cortado. Drink 2013-2020.
NV VORS Amontillado -
94 POINTS
Wine Advocate #208 - August 2013
Luis Guiterrez
Drink: 2013 - 2022
$100
The NV Amontillado VORS has a bright amber color, and the typical volatility of the very old wines. It started with eight years under flor, and the rest, up to 30 years of average age in topped up barrels. Dark amber-colored, spicy, with smoked notes, cashews, marmalade and hazelnuts. The palate shows like a bodybuilder of wine (21% alcohol), extremely concentrated and intense, with pungent, intense flavors of coffee and chocolate. It is spicy and saline, with great complexity and length. It is clearly from Sanlucar. Drink 2013-2022.
NV VORS Oloroso Seco -
94 POINTS
Wine Advocate #208 - August 2013
Luis Guiterrez
Drink: 2013 - 2020
$100
The NV Oloroso VORS, produced with Palomino grapes and subject to an oxidative aging in a solera system in Sanlucar de Barrameda for an average of 30 years, shows a bright orange color with a bright rim. The fresh, complex and velvety nose shows hazelnuts, spices and candied apricots. The round palate is persistent and long, with flavors of spiced apricots, and ends lively and again very spicy. The whole VORS line of Barbadillo is really impressive, and sometimes overlooked, but it’s where the quality to price ratio really excels. Bravo! Drink 2013-2020.
